Title

Kevin-10: New Best Friends

Reading Text

Episode 10: New Best Friends After his pie, Kevin goes to a park because he wants to rest. He sits under a shady tree, but suddenly he hears a loud noise. Vroom! A tall kangaroo stops next to him on a bright red motorbike. The motorbike has a small sidecar attached to it. "G'day! I'm Joey," the kangaroo says. He has a big smile and he is wearing cool sunglasses. Joey is loud and funny, so Kevin likes him immediately. "What are you doing in Sydney?" Joey asks. "I am traveling to the Great Australian Party in Perth," Kevin explains. Joey laughs. "That is a very long walk for a koala! Do you want a ride?" Kevin looks at his tired feet, then he looks at the sidecar. He smiles. "Yes, please!" 🐨 Aussie Talk Joey is a true Australian "larrikin." A larrikin is someone who is a bit cheeky, funny, and loves a good joke. His name is Joey, which is actually the word for a baby kangaroo, but he uses it as his name! šŸ“ Grammar Spotlight Look at the highlighted words: because, but, and, so. These are called Conjunctions. We use them to connect two sentences or ideas together. Because gives a reason. But shows a contrast or difference. And adds information. So shows a result.
