The Emperor's New Cloths
Title
The Emperor's New ClothesReading Text
Once there was a vain Emperor who loved fancy clothes. One day, a dishonest tailor came to the palace. He told the Emperor he could make special clothes that were invisible to stupid people. The Emperor paid him a lot of gold. The tailor pretended to make the clothes, but really, there was nothing there. The Emperor and his friends could not see the clothes, but they pretended they could so they would not look stupid. On the day of the parade, the Emperor marched through the town in his underwear. Everyone was silent until a small child shouted, 'He is wearing his underpants!' The whole town laughed, and the Emperor realized he had been tricked.
